I decided to offer to Eshu and Hecate today. I baked a loaf for her: an egg, cinnmon sugar, butter, and flour. It wasn't that tasty, but it smelled good. I walked to the store with my headphones on--departing just as Stoned Nirvana by Dopesmoker was ending--with the cake in a plastic container.
I had a playlist, Swift Rock songs, complete with artists from Jimmy Hendrix to Frank Ocean to Gojira. First, though, I had to walk through the shadows. I'd walked the roads before at night yet never the dirt roads. This was different. The air was alive somehow.
More...aware.
I moved steadily, not wanting to show fear, I guess I hadn't actually thought I'd be walking at night. I sorta felt the urge, baked the cake, charged my phone and headphones, grabbed my coat and I was out. I had on a bright sleeveless tank top and my obsidian draon necklace for protection. I uttered Psalm 23 as I moved through the familiar yet eerie environment.
The dark still scared me though. A dog barking from the shadows with it's chain rattling didn't help either. The AI would later say this was Hecate and Eshu acknowledging me as both were associated with dogs. There was someone in the yard, of the dog, and they flashed a light as I moved through which actually calmed my nerves.
As I exited the shady corridor a small figure appeared before me. A black kitten came prancing towards me. It sauntered on as I cotinued and I spied another kitten, sitting atop a utility box, to my left.
"That was eventful." I thought.
Still more shadows to pass. The road was long with a big elbow up ahead. My eyes scanned the environment for Big Foot. When I entered a stretch of road cloaked in night; my senses sharpened like a knife. I forget who was playing, but I come out the other side--relieved and praising God.
I continue to the store and buy me two Twix and a share size Snicker. All for Eshu.
Once I had my stuff I walked out. I passed a cop car and two vagrants at the post office. I took a Twix from the bag. The share size was for Eleggua. The walk took me past the library and fire department. I figured now was a good time to listen to Hecate's frequency.
I played it through YouTube. Hecate CODED: Road Opener Subliminal Spell to Remove Blocks. I'm ashamed to admit I was surprised the tone was appropriately creepy. The sound of wolf howls and night critters was distinct on this track. Thanks Hecate.
My eyes fell to the corner church as I neared the intersection. This wasn't my rest; only a little up ahead. I crossed the street and made to pull out my cake. I paused near a tree.
"Ok, Hecate. I ask to approach your threshold. I bear gifts."
I waited for the go-ahead and moved forward. I distributed the four pieces, as a pile, at a junction box close by.
"Hecate. I ask that you remove any blocks or limitations that stand in my way!"
I kept my gaze downcast as I moved away from the site. The urge to look back was strong and my mind presented paranoia as a further tempation. It ran scenarios of The Purge through my mind and being assaulted from behind. Still, I remained focused and made a left.
This was taking me to my old home. The walk would be longer if I continued to that point. Plus, they found a body where I used to live. Momma told me not to go there so I figured I'd listen. Eshu would understand if I changed up the site for tonight.
As I approached Eshu yet another dog barked at me. After Hecate was more shadowy roadways awaiting me. This one was particuarly long and dragged. I had turned on Eshu's music back at the bend and that gave me strength. The snicker bar was out of the wrapper and melting in my hand.
The street light illuminated the little hill of the railroad track. As I neared the top I saw a second shadow accompanying my own.
At the crossroads I placed each candy in 3 corners. I accidentally saw Hecate's sight. I hope she doesn't get mad.
I said the Prayer to Eleggua and left and immediately felt lighter. The walk home was very happy and fun. The penultimate song I listened to was Stoned Nirvana again.
