| Charleston Music Hall I got to Charleston on the back of Dopesmoker by Sleep. |
My reading time was interrupted by hunger so I got some food around 4 pm. I was also on the hunt for lavendar and juniper berry, but no luck at Obi's Grocery. I stopped inside Clelia's Guitar Studio and realized it was a studio and not Guitar Center.
The time came soon enough and I actually ended up 30 minutes late due to traffic.
Still, I was able to catch the majority of Emma Ruth Rundle's performance. This was my first impression of the young artist and she left quite the impression. Her tracks carried a wave of melancholy and her overall delivery was comparable to Crippled Black Phoenix. As a solo act she was soft-spoken, even sharing an anecdote in-between sets, yet her act was moving and forlorn.
After the opening set it was time for All Them Witches. I remember one of the sound engineers turning to his co-woker and saying: "You ready?"
The quartet entered, under the cover of subdued lighting, and "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath playing.
